What is the Client Assistance Fund (CAF)

We adopt a 'donate what you can' approach for our services. Clients begin by pledging an amount they can afford, using information provided on our website as a guide.

If a client pledges below our operating costs, our Client Assistance Fund steps in to fill the gap, or the client may opt to wait until we replenish the fund through grants, fundraising, and donations. Pledges meeting our operating costs result in clients being scheduled for our services. Any surplus donations above our operating costs go towards supporting our Client Assistance Fund, benefiting future families in need.

Our Client Assistance Fund plays a crucial role in making the following dyslexia services accessible to families of all income levels:

Dyslexia Evaluations
A licensed and clinically certified Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) works with clients age 6-18.

Suggested donation: $700
(compared to $2000+ from other providers if insurance isn’t accepted)
Average 2024 pledge: $492
Average amount used from the CAF: $208

Importance to a student: Accurate diagnosis of dyslexia provides clarity, guiding students toward appropriate evidence-based reading instruction and accommodations for school success.

Literacy Intervention
One on one structured sessions that help clients with dyslexia improve skills in reading, spelling, and writing using the Wilson Reading System. This evidence-based reading instruction is an Orton-Gillingham method.

Suggested donation per session: $50
(compared to $100+ from other providers if insurance isn’t accepted)
Average amount requested from the CAF per session: $25

Importance to a student: Typically, students require 18-36 months to achieve significant progress. These individualized sessions meet them where they’re at and walk through intervention at their pace.

In 2023, we gave over $2,400 in partial scholarships to families in need from this fund, and in 2024 we have ALREADY awarded $3,640! Thank you for making a life-changing difference in the lives of students in our community with dyslexia.
